Description
Old Norwegian hymns in meditative Sufi costume performed in Afghan language pashto. This is the paradox but still natural base for this concert.
Tord Gustavsen released in january 2016 a new album at ECM Records where he interprets and challenges old Norwegian hymns in a SUfi inspired and free dialouge. Together with the afghan-german singer Simin Tander and the poet B. Hamsaaya he has reinterpreted and transformed a selection of hymns to the beautiful language pashto, mother tongue of Simins father. Minimalistic and strong. For the first time Tord makes use of electronic elements in his music, both on the album and on stage – elements that creates new layers and textures under, around and within the acustic grand piano.
